Founding Members

Seeds of Hope Foundation

Seeds of Hope Foundation was incorporated in 1991 - it is a charitable organization and is recognized as a charity for purposes of the Income Tax Act (Canada). Its mission is to enhance employment, livelihood, and educational opportunities for persons who experience systemic barriers. Personal renewal is also an important component of SHF’s mission. Since its inception, SHF has pursued these objectives through a variety of efforts directed at community development.

Seeds of Hope Foundation www.seedsofhope.ca - began in 1991 and has sponsored arts, self-employment and computer literacy programs, with an emphasis on projects that benefit employment disadvantaged persons and help those interested in developing entrepreneurial skills. Such sponsorship has been in the form of collaborative fundraising and providing support services. SHF projects have included the Street People’s Association, the Community Economics Newsletter and the Internet Community Networking Association (iComm). SHF has also worked with other related charitable organizations serving various segments of the employment-disadvantaged community.

Chocosol (Social Enterprise)

ChocoSol horizontal traders and chocolatiers are the project managers for a unique organic garden in the back of the property inspired by the millenary cultivation techniques native to this region, but long forgotten. This polyculture garden is designed to celebrate subsistence farming in the city, and will harvest seeds to be sold in 2009 to other groups interested in replicating the program locally or regionally.

The Greener Side ( Social Enterprise )

The Greener Side organic solutions is one of Toronto’s leading organic soil experts, and is currently looking at ways of setting up urban composting sites to eliminate transport miles and to facilitate closing waste loops by providing local composting alternatives of the highest quality.
Green Gardeners Community Collaborative (Social Enterprise)

The Green Gardeners Community Collaborative began by providing ecological yard audits and incubating community garden projects with what is now Toronto Green Community. Green Gardeners are pioneers in providing zero emission gardening services and are looking to contribute to strong Toronto Green Economy. Green Gardeners have over 200 home ecological garden clients and are looking to grow ecological collaborative systems to promote local energy and food self sufficiency and to reduce the carbon foot print of its constituent stakeholder network.
